Japanese Delegation Explores Business at Alang Ship-Recycling Yard

news-details

Representatives from NYK Line, Penta Ocean Construction Company, Onno Associates, and Japan Marine Science recently visited the Alang-Sosiya Ship Recycling Yards in Bhavnagar, India.

The delegation's objective was to explore potential business opportunities in the ship recycling industry and evaluate the infrastructure available at the yards.

On April 20th, the delegation also visited Bansal ship recycling yard, which is known for its environmentally friendly and efficient ship-breaking practices. The delegation interacted with Ship Recycling Industries Association (India) officials, who represent ship recyclers in Alang.

Ship recycling operations in Alang, like most South Asian yards, occur in intertidal zones. South Asian yards represent the largest portion of the world's ship recycling capacity in terms of both volume and size of ships that can be dismantled. Alang has been in operation since 1983 and has made significant contributions to India's economy.

India is working to establish itself as a leader in sustainable ship recycling practices. This visit by the Japanese delegation has the potential to pave the way for future collaborations and partnerships in the industry.
